Hans Christian Andersen was a storyteller known for his works of fiction. He once noted, however, “Every character is taken from life...not one of them is invented. I know, and have known, them all.” In his youth, Andersen was considered very much an outcast, like the main character in his beloved fairy tale, The Ugly Duckling. This timeless tale is brought to life through the choreography of Lynne Taylor-Corbett. Her whimsical ballet recounts the adventures, misfortunes and ultimate transformation of an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. It is a cautionary tale of intolerance and misunderstanding, redemption and rebirth, that will warm the hearts of audience members of all ages. Visit www.carolinaballet.com for tickets.
