Join us for a special storytime with Martha Heineman Pieper, Ph.D.. Dr. Martha is the author of Jilly's Terrible Temper Tantrums and How She Outgrew Them. She is also a psychotherapist who works with children and parents. Jilly's Terrible Temper Tantrums and How She Outgrew Them is a book for children (and their parents) that helps them recognize the frustrations that trigger temper tantrums and work toward an understanding that seeking help and a hug is far superior to the misery of a meltdown. The book is an outgrowth of the author's personal and professional commitment to helping children understand and learn to manage their feelings. When Jilly, a happy little kangaroo, has a series of terrible temper tantrums, her parents lovingly help her through them. Children will be familiar with Jilly's upset feelings and will applaud her dawning ability to seek help and support from her firm but loving parents. Martha Heineman Pieper, Ph.D., is a psychotherapist who works with children and parents, and serves as a consultant to agencies and other mental health professionals. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Radcliffe College, she earned her doctorate at the University of Chicago. Dr. Pieper is the co-author, with her late husband, William J. Pieper, M.D., of the bestselling parenting book Smart Love: The Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Regulating, and Enjoying Your Child, on which the parenting approach in Jilly is based. "Jilly" is a sequel to her award-winning 2012 children's book, Mommy, Daddy, I Had a Bad Dream! Visit https://www.smartlovepress.com/ for more information.
