“Entanglements” is an exhibition of new work by Elizabeth Bradford. Influenced by the Pattern and Decorative movement of the ‘70 and the formal structure of Abstract Expressionism, Bradford paints her experiences in the wilderness. Bradford enjoys wild places as a naturalist and backpacker. Her painting often have the perspective of a hiker or kayaker. All of this is rendered in brushwork expressive of both expansive energy and a calculated mediated precision. Bradford is descended from generations of North Carolina farmers and her work reflects an inherited preoccupation with the land. “Pull up your chair and join the feast to which you have always been invited. That is what I choose to do, every day. This is about more than a methodology for producing an artifact – it is my way of being in my life, buffering my soul from pain, embracing wonder, expressing reverence, finding my place in the rhythm of the stream that bears us along” Elizabeth Bradford
